my best friend is Filipino and members of his family will be directly affected by this bill if it passes. he asked me to share this and since I have like, 100 Instagram followers and 1000 tumblr followers I’m sharing it in both places.
a short writeup: a Filipino terror bill is being considered that would make it illegal to speak out against the government. This bill is a violation of the Philippine constitution. If it is passed, it will mean that:
state police and military officials will have reduced penalties for crimes they commit;
the police will be allowed to conduct a 60 to 90 day surveillance on a suspected terrorist without notification;
and the definitions of the words “terrorist” and “terror” will be changed to be loosely applied to whatever the government wants to suppress.
to fight back against this, many Filipinos have been sending emails protesting the Junk Terror Bill to the government at 8 PM every night (this is Greenwich Mean Time + 8 hours) until the bill is struck down.. the email addresses are:

when writing an email, many filipino activists say to use special characters or numbers in the email subject heading, for example: Junk T3rror B!ll instead of Junk Terror Bill, to bypass any filters.
one of the messages that they recommend sending is:
We urge for the rejection of the so-called “Anti-Terror Bill” to protect the fundamental rights of the Filipinos to freedom of speech.
a similar statement they recommend, this time citing the constitution:
We urge for the rejection of the so-called “Anti-Terror Bill” to protect the fundamental rights of the Filipinos to freedom of speech, as stipulated in Article 3 Sec. 4 of the 1987 Philippine Constitution.
